3 Activities in Montréal: Plan for All of Them!

Having trouble keeping track of all the activities in Montréal in October? Here they are at a glance: The ico-D Platform Meetings (13–14 October) and the ico-D 27 General Assembly (15–16 October) will take place in Montréal (Canada). The events will be held in conjunction with The World Design Summit Congress (WDS) which will be held on 16–20 October 2017.

Icographic

We recently acquired original copies of Icographic, the first iteration of ico-D’s journal on design research, published by Icograda in 1971. The magazine published fourteen issues, each exploring the vast realm of design and its interconnections. ico-D has now made the first archival issue available for your viewing.

Beijing Design Week (BJDW)

In 2009, the Icograda World Design Congress was launched in Beijing China, which contributed to establishing the first Design Week in the city of Beijing. Beijing Design Week is ico-D's newest Promotional Member.

Blueprints for Designers' Lifelong Learning

Vice President Cihangir Istek reports on the concepts and outcomes of the Competences, Credentials, Actions Lifelong Learning Workshop held in October at the 3^rd Istanbul Design Biennale hosted by Member Bilgi University, a workshop that promotes the idea that designers continue to learn design all throughout their lives.

Communication Design [journal]

Since September 2010, Marina Emmanouil has been a lecturer at the Visual Communication Design Department, Faculty of Fine Arts & Design at Izmir University of Economics (Turkey). We are please to announce that Marina has been recently appointed as the new Editor for Communication Design: Interdisciplinary and Graphic Design Research [journal].

Regional Meeting Latin America: Report

The ico-D Regional Meeting conducted in Santiago, Chile on 19-20 January 2017 as a way to actively engage with the Latin American design community. ico-D Member Duoc UC hosted.

ADAA News

Another record-breaking number of entries this year for Adobe Design Achievement Awards (ADAA) 2017: almost 7000 entries! Judges are now busy assessing students’ work and the second session of semi-finalists will be announced 21 July and Winners chosen in San Francisco 13 August.
