02IcographicIssue 5 is all about the book—a tribute to UNESCO's designation of 1972 as International Book Year. For this occasion, Icograda was approached by UNESCO for guidance on the logo design and Belgian designer Michel Olyff was chosen to develop a pictogram suitable to represent the theme. 07New Member storyChartered Society of Designers (CSD) was founded in 1930 as the Society of Industrial Artists (SIA) in London (UK) by an influential group of designers whose vision was to establish design as a ‘recognised profession’. From the outset their mission was to promote the highest standards of professional design practice and to foster the study of design across all design disciplines. After 85 years, the Society achieved its goal in 2015 with the granting of powers from the sovereign to set up and maintain the Register of Chartered Designers. |
08Partner news As mandated by the Montréal Design Declaration, the three international Founding Partners have reconstituted the Design Summit Meeting Steering Committee. The new Steering Committee is now composed of six members: BEDA, Cumulus, ico-D, IFLA, IFHP, and IxDA.
