01 Saint-Étienne Design Pre-Summit An agreement was signed today between the Design Summit Meeting Steering Committee (DSMSC) and the Cité du design—École Supérieure d’Art et Design Saint-Étienne to conduct a 2019 Pre-Summit Meeting on 3–5 April 2019 to coincide with the City’s design Biennial, the Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Étienne. 03 ico-D News This May at the Board Meeting of 25-27 May in Vilnius (Lithuania) DesignGhana and DesignLaos were granted special status with ico-D by the Executive Board. Not a membership category, the "Corresponding Entity" status was introduced in the Bylaw changes of 2013 as a way to offer support to design communities in regions just beginning to organise themselves through the creation of professional associations. 05 ico-D Events The future of design is becoming ever more difficult to predict. The world surprises us every day with dramatic changes and vast possibilities. What if Design—perceptive in its understanding of the past, and prescient in its talent at re-imagining a better future, is in a unique position to offer a clear path through this shift? Members are invited to participate in all the components of the three-day event 18–20 September 2018 and to submit proposals to present topics during the Member Forum. Read more	06 ico-D Events ico-D Montréal Platform Meeting 'Design is Global' took place in Montréal (Canada) on 13–14 October 2017 along with the ico-D 27 General Assembly. The events were held in conjunction with the The World Design Summit. The format of the Meeting included Member forums and presentations, providing an opportunity for exchange between Members from the educational, professional and promotional sectors. This report summarises the talks and informal discussions that took place. Read and download	07 Feature The 2018 ico-D events in Beijing will be hosted by Central Academy of Fine Arts China (CAFA). CAFA School of Design is a leader in contemporary design, playing an important role in the promotion of design culture in China. Creators of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and hosts to the Future UnKnown Global Education Plan conference in 2017, CAFA's approach to design education stands out for its innovative approach to traditional culture and for training students to balance between hard skills and critical thinking. ico-D looks forward to being hosted by CAFA in 2018 as the school celebrates its 100-year anniversary. 08 Adobe Design Achievement Awards The 2018 Adobe Design Achievement Awards closed with 8,106 Entries submitted by students from 94 countries around the world, making this year the most successful year yet! View all the 2018 Submissions in the Adobe Awards Live Gallery Read more	09 Montréal Design Declaration The Declaration is now available in Portuguese thanks to our colleagues at Universidade Positivo. The document was translated on 28 March 2018, by the Visual Design Course, Design and Sustainability discipline. Universidade Positive is in Curitiba (Brazil) a UNESCO City of Design since 2014. The translation of the Declaration was mentored by Rosângela Souza Araújo and translated and diagrammed by Luiza Moreira de Paula and Denise Duck.
