03State of Fashion Report 2020We all look forward to the McKinsey reports for their in-depth to-the-point analyses of various design industries. Unfortunately, 2020 is looking grim for the Fashion Industry. Despite the 'darkening mood' and industry slow-down throughout the world, the report underlines how strategy will be key to survival this year. Among the top ten strategic themes for fashion companies and designers are: prioritise sustainability, hone resilience in the face of global turmoil, look beyond China, sharpen socials to meet the minds of the next-generation of consumers, and, not surprisingly, keep the consumer journey simple, easy to use, and local. 06ico-D EventsWhat does it mean to be a professional designer today? What are our collective ethics? The 2019 Platform Meeting 'Design is professional' was held on 01 December 2019 in Vancouver at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, gathering Members from around the world. The goal was to establish a common definition of the design profession and parameters that professional designers worldwide can stand by. We also explored what it would mean to have an international code of conduct for designers.

08Design for the Public SectorThe Danish Design Center pioneers in the field of social welfare design through their programme 'Future Welfare'. 09RemembrancesIt is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of Victor Margolin (1941-2019): author, academic and design thinker whose tireless analysis of design history has shaped designers and their thinking worldwide. Victor Margolin, Professor Emeritus of Design History from University of Illinois in Chicago passed away on 27 November 2019 in Washington D.C. (United States).
